Every Thanksgiving, MomDoc Charities hosts a full Thanksgiving dinner for more than 400 foster children currently living in group homes across Arizona (today's language for orphanages). The event takes place at The Lavender Farm at Chateau de Vie in Chandler, where Host Families and volunteers spend the day with these kids, sharing dinner, playing yard games, and creating joyful memories together.
It's a real Thanksgiving experience, far from a cafeteria-line handout. Kids sit at decorated tables. Volunteers serve the food. There are games, prizes, and live entertainment. For many of these children, it's the only Thanksgiving where someone showed up just for them.

Nick Goodman founded Kid Connection after learning an uncomfortable truth about the foster care system: children in group homes often have no one on Thanksgiving. No turkey, no family around a table, no one making a fuss over them.
The solution was deliberate. Partner with ASA Now and The Lavender Farm at Chateau de Vie to create a private Thanksgiving celebration, a real day where hundreds of volunteers and Host Families show up specifically to be with these kids. What started as a dinner for a few dozen children has grown every year, serving over 300 in 2024 and more than 400 in 2025.
“These kids don't need charity. They need to sit down at a table where someone says, ‘I'm glad you're here.’”
Nick Goodman
The event is a closed, private celebration. You can still be part of it by helping cover the costs of food, games, and activities that make the day so special.

Kid Connection works directly with ASA Now, a nonprofit that brings awareness to Arizona's foster care crisis and creates opportunities for the community to impact the lives of vulnerable children. ASA Now coordinates with group homes across the greater Phoenix area so that every eligible child has a seat at the table.
